Origin Story

Moss After Dark is a product of  Rock Roulette, a local rock camp experience for adults in Rochester, NY. Rock Roulette is a fundraiser program where adult women, trans and gender expansive folks, and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community sign up, are sorted into bands, and spend several months writing and learning music together. The program culminates with a Battle of the Bands showcase where all proceeds directly support the sister program, Girls Rock! Pride Rock!

Fun Fact: Moss After Dark won the "Most Donors" aware at this showcase in April 2026!

Girls Rock! uses the donations from the Rock Roulette showcase to fund a summer camp experience where young girls in the area can access the joys of music, including access to instruments, lessons, rehearsal spaces, and more.

Moss After Dark is dedicated to amplifying the diversity and radical acceptance at the heart of Rochester’s music scene and beyond. We believe everyone, regardless of identity, deserves unconditional access to music, care, and community.
